Το πλούσιο σπίτι είχε στην είσοδο

A rica mansão tinha na entrada

έναν καθρέπτη μέγιστο, πολύ παλαιό·

um espelho grande, muito antigo:

τουλάχιστον προ ογδόντα ετών αγορασμένο.

Ένα εμορφότατο παιδί, υπάλληλος σε ράπτη

um rapaz formosíssimo, funcionário de uma alfaiataria

(τες Κυριακές, ερασιτέχνης αθλητής),

(nos domingos, atleta amador),

στέκονταν μ’ ένα δέμα. Το παρέδοσε
